Aurelia (Fazio’s Mistress)

Red haired beauties were often depicted in Pre-Raphaelite art. This is one of a series of pictures painted by Dante Gabriel Rossetti. Inspired by Italian poet Fazio degli Uberti, it features a voluptuous young woman (Fazio’s mistress) lost in reverie as she gazes at herself in the mirror and idly plaits her flaming tresses.
