Death of a Legend

The whole world mourns the passing of the legendary David Bowie. Redheads around the world recognise that apart from his incredible musical genius, he may have been the only man to ever inspire men to dye their hair red.
David Bowie was experimental in developing his androgynous personality and like a cultural chameleon he changed his clothes, his hair and wore makeup to bring theatrics to his music. To become Ziggy Stardust he dyed his spiky mullet Schwartzkopf red and wore slinky tight fitting multi coloured jumpsuits. He revelled in his weirdness and sang right into the heart of all the kooks, weirdos and misfits. He validated a whole generation to be strange, to be unusual, to be unique.

David Bowie was constantly one step ahead of trend and fashion. Trends and fashion were invariably scrambling behind him, trying to keep up. Just when the intensity of the trend he had developed, was at its greatest height, he changed again to reveal yet another persona.

His death took us all by surprise after hiding the ugly truth that he was dying. I can’t help feeling that he has just orchestrated his final reveal.

RIP David Bowie – you will always remain #1 on my playlist.

First David Bowie and now Prince… 2016 has been truly cruel to us so far. I don’t even want to think about who could be next :/
